Remove scrap diesel tank from behind Pineapple Shed
Open, NormalPublic

Description

There is an old rusted diesel fuel tank behind the Pineapple Shed (Lower Shed). Its base has rusted out so it's probably best sold for scrap metal. It needs to be removed so that the location can be used for a concrete tank for water collection from the Lower Shed.

It's probably best to call up a scrap metal recycling place to remove this for free (and they'll likely pay for the metal).

Do you think the rusted diesel tank is heavy? Would we need to angle grind it up into smaller pieces to remove it?

In regards to the old diesel tank, there's no flammable liquids inside. It's rectangular, extremely old and rusty, and it's rusted out at the base, so no longer holds liquid. I only identified it as a diesel vessel based on what the farmer neighbour said, but it could have held any liquid in the past. It's probably something like 4 metres by 2 metres by 2 metres, at a guess? I'd say they'd be able to come in with a Hiab crane truck and take it away that way. It's got attachment points on the top for hooks for lifting in that way exactly. It's pretty thick steel so I'd imagine it's heavy, and probably got a decent value of metal to be reclaimed, but I wouldn't know what they'd value it as

Have contacted a few places in regards to removing the tank. A couple seemed genuinely interested. I even sent them photos. I will follow up. It would be great to get rid of that thing. Could sure use the space

Sadly, since my original foray I have not been able to find any parties interested in removing the tank.
