Community Hall design requirements
Community Hall design requirements
This page describes all of the design requirements and considerations for a potential Community Hall / Community Shed
Fitting the same role that the Cottage is currently fulfilling, but adding greater capacity and more functionality
Sleep space
- A few more permanent bedroom spaces
- Somewhere to sleep a dozen humans for quick overnight stays for events (e.g. sleeping mat storage) - perhaps aim for 16 pax (8 bunk beds) that are comfy enough for weekend retreats or even week-long stays for university students
Office
- Shared office spaces for coworking / remote working
- Sound proof meeting rooms
- High-speed internet
Kitchen
- Space for large 8 burner gas stove and storage of many large pots and pans
- Community meals
Function / entertainment space
- Movies area, games probably
- Possible big lounge (almost 'cuddle pile' space)
- Bouldering wall & gymnasium
- Possibly a home-brew multiplayer VR space
Ventilation
Community Shed Design Notes
- Big eaves for the shed (at least 600mm was suggested) will help keep it cool
- cross ventilation
- Cover any naked concrete so it doesn’t heat the building up with heat transfer - either have the concrete pad as the same size as the shed, or shade any other concrete area
- Using the verandah as deck might be possible – split level shed?
