The Sanctuary is in the middle of a fire danger area:

Aims

I presume our fire safety aims, in rough current priority, are:

• a space to protect human life
• we need to protect the cottage location
• we need to protect the pineapple shed
• we need to protect the future new shed
• protect general forest

Strategies

I propose we make loops and breaks that prioritise these locations, plus breaks to help prevent fires spreading uncontrollably

Interim plan: evacuate to the recently-cleared dam area

as it has been heavily cleared and should be safely distanced from any fuel loads (there is a 20 meter cleared fire break on all sides of the inner dam bowl)

Long-term plan

• dam of water available for fire trucks
• irrigation from dam to keep slopes moist
• make predetermined loops where water can be serviced. We can add this to the plan page I linked.
• cultural burns
• reducing fuel load
  • brushcutting slopes and then planting with greener foliage
  • obtain or borrow tractor with side-swinging slasher for the roads (@Timotheos' father might be repairing a tiny tractor)
